A week of BLAH...

So this is where the "Wannabe" really starts to be noticed. A "true" endurance athlete has all kinds of stuff happen in their lives and still finds time to get the workouts in. I on the other hand have found this week to be un-workout-able. It's been a fun week of exciting things but I did not do a single workout (as of yet).

Monday night one of my best friends had her 2nd little boy (9 lb. 7oz.). Is there a reason I didn't do my workout out earlier in the day before all the baby is coming stuff happened.....uhhhh no. Tuesday was a work day and then see the baby at the hospital and visit with friends. Wednesday...should of been a perfect day to get my workout in, I did go to the hospital again, and helped my friends leave the hospital, got lunch....but there was enough time to get a workout in afterwards (but the weather was icky, and my head hurt), so no workout again. Thursday was a work day, and my 9th wedding anniversary, so a beautiful evening out for dinner was had. Now it's Friday and I again have time to do my workout...but my head is killing me. Allergies, and crazy weather here in North Carolina play havoc on my system. I'm going to rest for a little bit and we'll see if I can at least get one workout in before the weekend.

Tomorrow I will be riding my bike! It's the Gears and Cheers ride from Grove Winery (in Gibbonsville, NC). I signed up for the 62 mile ride, but I think I'm going to back it off to the 40 mile ride. There is a nice lunch and a glass of wine at the end. *happy*. I was told I need to try and keep a fast steady pace for this ride, so that is my goal. Should be fun though as I have a few friends coming out to do this ride!!*smiles* Sunday I have a 6 mile run on tap. Jason already said he'd come run with me, so he'll keep me on task. If nothing else this week I'll have my 2 workouts on the weekend in.

Arrrgggghhhhh! Ohh well, sometimes you just gotta let it go and move on to the next task (or week for me).

3 weeks till Kerr Lake Olympic Distance Tri

Getting ready for my first and maybe my only official Tri of this season. Kerr Lake Olympic Distance Tri is in 3 weeks. It's been a busy training weekend. Yesterday I did a "3 hour" bike ride that was 50 miles (in 2:42), it was a beautiful day to be out on my bike. I was lucky to have a friend who wanted to do the ride with me, extra lucky to have a fast friend who doesn't mind letting me draft off her!!*smiles* Today I did a 7 mile run with my husband and another friend. It was very humid this morning so running wasn't the most fun. My husband commented at the end that it looked like it had rained on me, it felt like it to!!

Next weekend I have a fun bike ride....Gears and Cheers, a ride that ends with a lunch and a glass of wine at Grove Winery in Gibsonville, NC. That'll be my big ride for the weekend, and then I get to have a long tapper. WOO HOO!

White Lake....and fun cheering!

So last weekend I went down to White Lake to cheer on some friends who were racing. 2 friends had done the 1/2 Ironman (70.3) on Saturday. The temperatures were ridiculous, highs in the 90's with tons of humidity. Not the most ideal racing weather, but then racing in the summer in North Carolina is just like this. On Sunday (the day I actual went down to cheer), was the sprint distance tri. I had 3 friends racing this distance (this day). So what I have to say is that all my friends are ROCK STARS!! Truly amazing athletes.

(My Rock Star friend on her bike going an average of 20.5 mph...yeah that's fast!!)

I LOVE cheering on my friends in races. There is a good way to cheer and not so good way to cheer. First and foremost going out to cheer people is AWESOME no matter how you do it. BUT...I think of cheering as an ART....sorta. I do go out to cheer on my friends...but that doesn't mean I'm not going to cheer on everyone else racing as well. Good things to say when cheering...Looking good, nice pace, you got this, WOO HOO, and a lot of cow bell. Not good things to say: your almost there (when you clearly are not almost there, not saying anything. I usually try to think about how I'm feeling when I get to whatever part of the race that I'm cheering at and think of what I want people to say. I usually don't want to many words just cheering and COW BELL! I like being told I'm amazing (even if I don't feel like while I'm racing)....it makes me go faster and feel stronger, makes me feel like I have to keep up the charade, which ultimately gets me through the race!!*smiles*

(After getting their awards...they all placed)

(Getting ready for the swim start)

(Finishing the run...she's a speed demon)

I am racing in a month and welcome any cheerers out there that want to ring a little COW BELL. I will be racing with friends and although it's a race I'll be cheering them on as we go along (if I see any of them...I did say they are all ROCK STARS), I'm sure they'll be cheering me on as well (except the more competitive one who might be thinking bad thoughts toward me, but only for the race! *winks*). More on that to come!!
